Release 2609A is larger than August 2026 by 1,575 sailings, with 13,539 total sailings across 14 tiers. The month still skews heavily to the Caribbean, which accounts for 9,028 sailings, but the rest of the board is broad enough to matter: Mexico at 1,895, Alaska at 636, then smaller but usable pockets in the Mediterranean, Asia, Australia, Europe, Bermuda, and Hawaii.

Average sailing length is 5.4 nights, unchanged from the prior release. That matters because the month is not being driven by longer itineraries; it is being driven by more inventory, especially in the mid tiers.
The first two-guest tier is 600 points this month. The first balcony two-guest tier is 800 points. That is a meaningful shift from August 2026, when those breakpoints sat at 800 and 1200 respectively. In practice, this opens more of the board to lower-point players, especially on interior and oceanview inventory.
At the low end, 400 points is now enough to reach a one-guest cruise fare on a small set of Mexico and Alaska sailings. The 600 and 800 tiers are still one-guest offers, but they now sit much closer to the first two-guest balcony access point than they did last month.
The strongest concentration of inventory sits between 1500 and 9000 points. That is where the board becomes useful rather than merely available.
- 1500 points: 1,021 sailings, all interior/oceanview/balcony GTY mix
- 2000 points: 1,335 sailings, with balcony GTY now tied with interior at the top of the mix
- 3000 points: 1,406 sailings, the largest non-VIP tier by count
- 4000 points: 1,063 sailings, with balcony and oceanview two-guest offers
- 6500 points: 1,280 sailings, led by balcony and junior suite two-guest offers
- 9000 points: 1,482 sailings, where Mediterranean inventory starts to show up in a more useful way
The 9000 tier is the first place this release starts to feel like a destination board rather than a pure Caribbean board. Mediterranean sailings are still a minority, but they are present in enough volume to matter.
The strongest tier this month is 25000 points. Its best cruise is Mariner of the Seas, 10 Night Greece, Italy & Croatia, departing Barcelona on 2027-06-05, with a Junior Suite and $1,500 FreePlay. The tier’s average top score is 137.9, and the best cruise scores 142. That is the clearest value concentration in the release.
The weakest tier is 400 points. It has only 55 sailings, all Interior - GTY, and the best cruise is a 7 Night Cabo Overnight, Catalina & Ensenada sailing on Serenade of the Seas from San Diego on 2026-12-13. The tier is useful, but it is narrow and mostly limited to Mexico with a single Alaska outlier.
Europe becomes practical at 1200 points, where Explorer of the Seas offers a 7 Night Italy & France Cruise. The board is still thin there, but the itinerary quality is real.
Alaska becomes practical at 400 points for a one-guest fare, but the first broadly useful Alaska access is 800 points, where Anthem of the Seas starts showing balcony GTY and oceanview GTY options. By 2000 points, Alaska is no longer a niche exception; it is part of the regular mix.
Compared with August 2026, the release adds 1,575 sailings overall. The important point is not a free-play change at the tier level. Per-tier free play is unchanged from prior month; the mix of sailings shifted toward lower tiers, which pulled the weighted average down by $97.2 per sailing across tiers.
That mix shift is visible in the breakpoint changes. More sailings now sit at 600, 800, and 1200 points, while the higher tiers remain stable in free-play amount and continue to carry the strongest destination value.
2609A is a larger, more accessible certificate than August 2026. The low end opens earlier, the mid tiers are fuller, and the best value still sits in the upper-middle and VIP bands. If you are tracking only one thing, track the breakpoint move: 600 for first two-guest access, 800 for first balcony two-guest access, and 25000 for the strongest overall value.

Why This Month Matters
Most of this month sits in Caribbean (9028), with departures led by Fort Lauderdale, Florida (1839). That shapes the kind of certificate month this is.
For most players, the biggest practical step up looks like 4000 to 6500 points.
Month Shape
Europe opens at 1200 points, Alaska at 400 points, and longer sailings at 600 points.
The strongest overall tier is 25000 points, while the biggest jump in practical value comes at 4000 to 6500.
That mix makes this month feel more like Caribbean (9028) than a broad all-destination month.
Historical Comparison
This certificate has 1,575 more sailings than August 2026
2026-09 has 1,575 more sailings across all tiers than August 2026. Average free play is -$97.2 across the certificate, but the bigger change is how much smaller the sailing list is overall.
